Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid organized and was the Hony. Secy: of the Shafi Endurance Swimming Committee, and later through his efforts Mr. Shafi Ahmed was sent to England to cross the English Channel by H.E.H the Nizam of Hyderabad.

Murad Flight Committee

In the year 1930, he was elected as Hony: Secretary and organized the “Murad Flight Committee” and arranged a hearty send-off to Pilot Murad (the first Indian flier to attempt to fly to Cape-Town) later, in connection with Pilot Murad’s second flight to Cape-Town for his Highness the Agha Khan’s prize, Khan Sahib Rashid was persuaded by the “Murad Flight Committee” to tour Delhi, Aligarh, Rampur, Bhopal, Bombay and Hyderabad-Deccan. He was a state guest during his visit to the states.

Educational and Welfare Activities

In 1932, he worked hard with his uncle, late Dr. Sir Syed Ross Masood and his friends the Honourable Sir Nazimuddin, K.C.I.E and Nawab Sir K.G.M Farooqui in getting the Star of India, an evening Daily Newspaper, started in Bengal and collected a large portion of money for this purpose. The original offer for this project was made by two Merchants of Mssers M Ibrahim G.B. Feroz to Sir Ross Masood through Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid on 20th November 1931 when Sir Ross Masood visited Calcutta. The original was handed over to Sir Ross Masood Copy is reproduced below. In the same year Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was instrumental in sending 15 (fifteen) Indian Boys of class than 14 years of age to Europe for free commercial training for 3-1/2 years.

In August 1932, the Executive Council of the All India Muslim Educational Conference elected him as a member of that Executive body.

In the year 1933, Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was elected as member of the Bihar Earthquake Relief Committee, Calcutta.

In 1932 and 1933 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was unanimously elected as Hony. Secretary of the Muslim Institute Calcutta and did very good and substantial work for the Institute.

Later for 1933 and 1934 he was unanimously elected as Hony. Treasurer of the same Institution.

In 1938, he was elected as Life Member of the Muslim Institute, Calcutta from 1934 to 1937 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was a Vice-President of the Delhi Young’s Club, Delhi.

Since 1934, Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was unanimously elected on important Executive Committee and Sub-committee of the Muslim, Orphanage, Calcutta.

From 1934 to 1939 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was an enthusiastic member of the Executive Council of the M.A.O Girls School, Calcutta and the Calcutta Muslim Hospital, The Beniapuker High School and Anjuman Mufidul Islam Night School and Industrial Section.

Since 1936 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid had been a prominent member of the All India Muslim Female Educational Conference of Aligarh.

Since 1936, he had been elected as executive Council of the All Bengal Poor Children Fresh Air Society.

In April 1935 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was elected as a member of the Executive committee and other Sub-committee of their Majesty’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in Calcutta.

In 1937-38 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was elected as president of the Beniapukhar Intally Muslim Association and a Vice- President of its Junior Madrassah, Calcutta.

Since 1938, Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid has been unanimously elected as Vice-president of the Anjuman Hizbullah, Calcutta, where he organized relief work to factory workers and their families and arranged for their needs.

In March 1939, Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was elected as member of the Aligarh Muslim University Court.

Since May 1939, he was elected as Vice-President of the Anjuman Mufidal Islam, Calcutta where he worked on all its important Committees.

He had been the President of the Bengal Muslim Physical Culturist Association since 1939. Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was also elected as Vice-President of the Assam-Bengal Haj Reception Committee, Calcutta. He was later elected Hony. Secretary, Calcutta Civic Guards Organization.

In December 1940 at Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid’s request the Honourable Mr. A. Fazul Haque Premier of Bengal, Invited the All India Muslim Educational Conference in Calcutta and Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was the Assistant Secretary of the Reception Committee and practically did all the work in this connection.

In February 1941, Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid successfully organized and was elected Hony: General Secretary of the All India Wrestling Committee organized in aid of the lady Mary Herbert’s War fund. In this connection he toured the United Provinces and the Punjab for getting the most famous Wrestlers in India.

In 1942 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid organized and was the Hony: General Secretary: of the Singhi Park mole in aid of the Lady Mary Herbert’s War fund. Over Rs. 55,000/- per given to this War fund and his services were highly appreciated by the Lady Mary Herbert and the Committee.

In 1942, the Scaldah Chief Police Magistrate, Calcutta Highly appreciated the valuable assistance rendered to him   for several years by Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid in settling complicated cases / disputes which were referred to him from time to time for settlement outside the court.

Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was later on chosen by the authorities to sit as a juror in the Session Court, Alipur.

In 1938 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid was the Publicity Secretary and then from 1939 to 1941 he was the Entertainment secretary for the Annual Bengal Eid Reunion Committee Calcutta. In 1942/43, he most successfully organized the 9th and 10th Eid Reunion Function as its Hon:  General Secretary and gave over Rs. 5,500/- for the fooding for the poor destitute men in Bengal during the famine also collected Rs. 12,500/- to start a Home for Poor destitute woman in Bengal.

In the end of 1943 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid organized Bengal Famine Relief work and later took a large number of destitute children to the United Provinces for upkeep during the out famine in Bengal. In 1944 he was elected as a member of this Society for the Protection of the Children in India.

In the December 1943 Khan Sahib Syed Ahmed Rashid appealed for the formation of Humanitarian Relief in Bengal and other Provinces in India. This appeal was strongly supported by leading social workers in India.
